I’m a blessed man. God has given me a wonderful family to share this journey of life with. They add moments to my days and laughter to my life as we go through this thing called life.
Diane: Diane and I met in College at Texas Tech University. We were both involved at FBC Lubbock in the 9:30 Ministry and were in Bible studies together. Ironically, we never dated at Tech. We both ended up in San Antonio after college and attended Trinity Baptist Church together, and there we helped start a young singles ministry. It was there that we began to date and think about God’s plans for our lives together. Long story short, a friendship that began in 1984 turned into a partnership of 21 years of marriage and ministry. I truly know that God gave Diane to me ( I remember the day that he said “Son, look over there–there is your life mate”) and she has been my rock and stability in all these years. I owe her far more than I could ever repay.
Taylor: Taylor is our first born and is a creative, artistic, compassionate, caring and passionate follower of Jesus. She continues to amaze us with her interests and talents. Currently she’s a Senior and hoping to pursue a career in nursing. She loves to paint, sing, photograph friends, share and shop! (And any of those can come in any order). She loves to give (give of her time, talents and gifts) and we are constantly surprised with her gifts to many different people (even some she’s never met) She sponsors a Compassion Child in Ethiopia (all on her own) and will be a missionary to France this summer.
Mattie: Mattie is our middle child and always has been an observer but maker of her own path and way. She’s a Sophomore and involved in Tennis, Band, Drama, Dance and Show Choir. If life was a Broadway musical soundtrack, hers would be ” THERE’S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS”. She’s our GLEE resident in our household constantly singing some Broadway tune or song. She’s a great friend to many people and a great listener. She too sponsors a child from Compassion in Ethiopia. I’m thinking there’s a trip for me and my girls in the future to Ethiopia. She works a local job to make money for her projects and by the way, she’s in the top 5 of her class.
Daniel: Daniel is a our baby and at times he likes to leverage this position. He’s our athlete (not a musician although lately we’ve seen signs of a “Rap” career emerging) and loves to play sports of any kinds. He’s especially fond of Football and Baseball and does the obligatory Basketball/Track to keep himself busy. He loves to run (We’ve run several races together) and is the social center of his circle of friends. Believe me on that last statement because our phone is busier for Daniel than anyone else in our family ( “Is Daniel there? Where’s Daniel”) I think he likes it that way. He plays in the band (drums) and is resident XBox player with family and friends. Today (and only today) he’s single. But that could change at any moment and for only a short period of time.
Dub and Chewy: Our dogs can’t be left out. These two brothers came to us in early 2010 as puppies and have grown up with us. They are a constant joy and surprise to us as they greet us each day when we come home from work and school. They are lap dogs deluxe and love nothing more than to cuddle up with you on the couch or burrow under the blankets with you in the morning. We love our puppies.
